My work is for all audiences, and I strive to create relatable portrayals of the feminine, social and cultural influences in my life. As a Métis-Japanese- Canadian artist, my work serves as a way to show the viewer a unique mixed cultural perspective. The Bison motif is something I use to represent my Plains Cree ancestry, as well as transmit emotions such as strength, consistency and abundance. Interactions with nature and the personification of nature are subjects I have enjoyed exploring throughout my practice. - Miakoda (Mia) Ohki
